What’s Hot?
We mean, in the reycling word
Not everything is easy to recycling:
Somethings, like glass and paper, are low value but easy to recycle. Glass is infinitely recyclable [1], and is recycled by being crushed up and then re-melted, moulded or blown [2]. Obviously the infrastructure in the UK is well suited to this sort of recyling - you council normally comes and gets it for you!
Other things, like WEEE, can be much harder to recycle. Seperating the raw materials out of a phone can be much more difficuly, for instance, but the rewards (both environmental and economic) can be much greater.
What can we accept at Project BFM?
We’re after WEEE. But not all WEEE is made equal. For the moment, we’re looking for:
Mobile Phones
Laptops
Cameras
Cables (phone/laptop chargers, reels, etc),
Wireless chargers
Wifi boxes
Earphones (wireless or not)
Plugs
Games consoles
Handheld games consoles
Speakers
Watches
Doesn’t matter if there broken or not - it doesn’t affect the quality of the recycling!
Please don’t send us…
Vapes - (there are better and more appropriate routes for these).
TVs and monitors (we do not have a recylcing route for LCD displays).
Printers (the ink is a problem)
Microwaves, ovens & and other white goods (freezers etc).
Loose batteries
Smoke alarms (due to there radioactive contents).
And anything else not on the list above! We do reserve the right to leave items that don’t meet our criteria.
